1. Resolve the legal entity
Record the Companies House number, legal name at the time of investment and any later name changes. Website names and trading names are not enough.
2. Separate membership from status
A fund portfolio page can show that an investment was publicly associated with a fund. It does not prove current ownership. Store the membership source and date independently from current Companies House status.
3. Monitor material fields
- Company status and dissolution date.
- Accounts due date and overdue flag.
- Confirmation-statement due date.
- Insolvency history and charges.
- New filings, officer changes and registered-office changes.
4. Escalate with evidence
Keep the before-and-after value, timestamp, source URL and filing link. A status change should create a review task, not an automatic tax or investment conclusion.
