What this is
CompanyBeacon is a public-record research tool for UK companies. It brings official register data into one place so a company can be checked against its source record: current Companies House status, published public-contract awards, exact legal-entity identifiers and a set of source-dated reports. Search and every published page are free and require no account.
Who operates it
CompanyBeacon is operated by ASAP Ventures Ltd. Contact [email protected] for corrections or questions.
Where the data comes from
CompanyBeacon publishes third-party official data and does not originate company records. The current sources are:
- Companies House — company identity, status and filing dates. Crown copyright, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- Contracts Finder — published UK public-contract award notices, matched to companies only on an exact published
GB-COHidentifier. Open Government Licence v3.0. - Charity Commission register — registered-charity records used for company–charity links. Open Government Licence v3.0.
- GLEIF — Legal Entity Identifier records, linked only where registration authority
RA000585carries the same Companies House number. Published under CC0 1.0. - UK official statistics — national indicators used for operating-context reports. Open Government Licence v3.0.
Each dataset's extract date, import date and licence is shown on the data sources page. Source data remains subject to its own licence.
How it is kept current
Company status is resolved live against Companies House where a page can do so, and is otherwise served from a dated snapshot that is labelled as a snapshot. A scheduled job rechecks tracked companies daily. A page being rendered today does not make the underlying extract current, so every figure is shown with the date it belongs to.
What CompanyBeacon does not do
It is not financial, investment, tax, legal or credit advice, and it is not a credit-reference agency. A company status is a register fact, not a judgement about a business, its solvency or its performance. Public-contract awards are the notices that were published, not a supplier's total revenue. Verify anything material at the original source before relying on it. The methodology page sets out the identity rules and limitations in full.
Corrections
If a page is wrong, email [email protected] with the company number, the page URL, the source you believe is correct and the proposed change.
